The Grange assisted living facility – the final part of the pioneering new Buckshaw Retirement Village for the over 55s in Chorley, Lancashire – opens for the first time shortly with a public launch on November 28, 29 and 30.

Even though Christmas is only a few weeks away, staff at The Grange say that, subject to a financial assessment, they will ensure that people will still be able to move in for the festive period if they would otherwise be facing the prospect of a lonely Christmas.

“There’s no need for someone to be on their own this Christmas. They can move into The Grange before they sell their own home, have company and assistance, and make new friends. We will help with the sale of their house and help them to move, right down to sorting out the packing! In certain circumstances we will even be able to defer rental payments at The Grange until their house is sold,” said Sales and Marketing Director Irene Heffernan.

All meals, heating, electricity, water and council tax charges are included in the rent at The Grange, and there is also a housekeeping and linen service.

The Grange offers a real alternative for people who need assistance but don’t want to move into a traditional care home. Residents don’t just have their own room – they have a studio or apartment and are supported in their daily activities, providing the perfect balance between independence and support.

“Assisted living at The Grange is a new and exciting alternative to help people live life to the full. We focus on wellness and peace of mind, offering a host of amenities and optional support services,” said Irene.

“Residents will make new friends, enjoy new activities, and – unlike other types of care accommodation – couples can continue living together at The Grange,” she added.

Residents will be offered the following facilities – a 24 hour emergency response system, a wellness centre with hydrotherapy pool, a convenience shop, bistro and restaurant, and elegantly furnished lounges. Optional care packages are also available.

The three open days for The Grange will be based around a Christmas theme, with mulled wine and mince pies being on hand, together with wellness checks and financial advice. There are 78 properties at The Grange, including a show apartment and show studio which will be open to visitors.
